Chess at DPS Gangtok is a celebrated part of our academic co-curriculum. Our dedicated chess program — running after school and during activity periods — has produced multiple district and state-level champions and continues to attract enthusiastic players across all age groups.
Under the guidance of qualified chess coaches, students progress systematically from learning the moves and basic principles to understanding openings, tactical motifs, endgame techniques and competitive tournament play. Regular practice games, internal tournaments and participation in CBSE national chess competitions sharpen their skills progressively.
